What is a Business Valuation?

A business valuation is a process designed to gather information about and quantify the "value" of a business or a business interest for a defined purpose. Determining the value of an interest in a closely held business can be important for personal, business or tax reasons. However, determining value is not a simple process since there is no established market for closely held business interests. Therefore, an objective, professionally prepared business valuation is critical.

Practitioners use a comprehensive approach to valuing business interests. We perform in-depth analysis, using relevant market data, and apply state-of-the-art valuation techniques to ensure an accurate and defensible business valuation report. We analyze the nature of your business and its operations, the quality of its management and the financial results and condition. We also evaluate the economic environment, the outlook for the industry and your entity’s competitive strengths and weaknesses. These are just part of the complex set of considerations our professionals research to ascertain the indicated value of your business.
